Riverview, FL – August 13, 2009– Serenity Stream today announced

Never seen your toes, never mind touched them? Thought you were too tight, too tall, too old, too fill-in-the-blank for yoga? Well this series is for you! Serenity Stream Yoga and Wellness Spa will be holding a 4-week Introduction to Yoga series starting October 18, 2009.

Beginning October 18th, 2009 and lasting 4 weeks, this sequential class starts from the ABSOLUTE beginning, starting with how/where to roll out your mat and an introduction to breathing, then leading into the names of poses and why we put them in the order we do, to where your femur bone is and why we place our hands together and say funky stuff in another language.

With this series, you also receive one free class to take during the 4 weeks. It will allow you to try out your new skills in a regularly scheduled class. Relax! It's just yoga!

Stress Relief: a staple in Riverview

Yoga / Pilates Business celebrates one year anniversary and supports local charity, E.C.H.O.

Riverview, FL – June 20, 2009 – Serenity Stream today announced

Serenity Stream Yoga & Wellness Spa will be celebrating their one year anniversary on August 15th, 2009. They opened their doors on June 2nd, 2008 and have had an amazing year. Along with yoga and pilates, they have also added Zumba and Tai Chi to the list of classes. The staff and teachers at Serenity Stream have begun to introduce a way to get healthy and relieve stress in a serene environment and everyone loves it!

Serenity Stream is inviting everyone to an Anniversary celebration on August 15th. Free classes are being offered from 8am until 1pm including yoga, pilates, tai chi and zumba classes as well as a heath fair from 9am until 1pm including free health screenings, nutrition advice and local vendors. Check out the schedule of classes below!

Serenity Stream feels strongly about making a difference in the community. Part of all purchases made on August 15th will be donated to E.C.H.O., the Emergency Care Help Organization. E.C.H.O. provides immediate relief in the forms of food, clothing and household items to those residents of the greater Brandon area that have experienced a recent emergency. Since its inception in 1987, ECHO has assisted over 109,000 individuals, over half of whom were children, with the basic life necessities.

Business owner Sherry Smith opened her doors on June 2, 2008, welcoming all who are interested in reducing stress level, losing weight, and /or reducing pain. Clients have found relief from the stress of job and personal challenges, heavy traffic, and the changing economy through yoga / pilates classes, private yoga / pilates sessions, and Thai yoga massage.

After years of living with stress in the corporate world, Sherry found extraordinary relief in the practice of yoga. She lost weight, improved muscle tone, reduced anxiety, and stopped yelling in traffic. She knew that she had to share this wonderful gift with her co-workers and friends and now offers Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Zumba classes as well as private, individual yoga, pilates, and massage sessions.

“It seems that everyone walking through the door tells me that they have a stress level of 14 on a scale of one to ten. With all of the craziness with the economy, jobs, and family pressures, more and more people are seeking ways to deal with it all,” Smith says. “We are excited to serve the community and hope that everyone will come by our One Year Anniversary Celebration on August 15th.” Serenity Stream will be sponsoring a health fair including free health screenings, nutrition education, cancer prevention information and free chair massages. Also, they will be offering free classes every hour including yoga, pilates, Tai chi and Zumba.

According to the American Heart Association and the Florida Centers for Disease Control, two of the top three causes of death in Florida are heart disease and stroke, both of which are mainly brought on by stress. Stress is also a contributing factor to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. Stressful situations raise heart rates and blood pressure, which all can injure the heart and the blood vessels. The Mayo Clinic calls yoga “an effective method to reduce stress” and cites increased flexibility, management of chronic health conditions, weight loss, balance, and relief in coping with cancer and Alzheimer’s as major additional benefits.
